What to do when a death occurs

Rabbi Ronald Weiss

Director, Chaplaincy Services at Jewish Family and Child Services

Transcription:

What to do when the end comes, and that’s basically reach out. Reach out for assistance and for help in taking that next step. Often I’ll get a phone call from a hospital where someone has passed away unexpectedly or expectedly. You know, their death has been anticipated. But now that they’re gone, the family forgot. In the turmoil and the emotional distress of the moment, they’ve misplaced the piece of paper where they wrote down the phone numbers. You know, in the hospitals it’s really very simple. You ask the nurse to call the rabbi.
